1970's Sports Climate

Opportunities for women to play sports in the 1970's were very limited and usually confined to golf or Tennis. Within tennis and golf there were still many injustices. The men who were the ones in charge of tournaments did not give anything near equal prize money  to the women and some of them just took out the women's event entirely. In 1972 title IX was passed and gave hope to many women including Billie Jean King. Title IX gave a push for the women’s movement and inspired women to seek equality
